GS DSP will soon be releasing MagicBlur, a multi-curve spectral blur and freeze effect with a built-in modulation system. The release has been scheduled for this week (day to be confirmed), the price is also to be confirmed.
Turn your samples into a synthesiser to create lush atmospheric sounds, endless worlds of overtone glissandi, crazy reversed and glitch-like sounds – it’s all there! Easily and quickly apply separate blur times per frequency, or ranges of frequencies. Mix them, modulate them, spread them, run wild, and create original spectral transformations from subtle reverberish washed out sounds to extreme effects on the brink of insanity.

Spectral Blur describes the process of taking spectral snapshots and morphing between them.
Optionally you can deactivate the morphing part and turn the whole thing into a spectral freezer. And if that’s not cool enough (no pun intended) you can even reverse the morph direction, apply envelopes and shift the pitch to create unique sounding effects never heard before.
Controlling thousands of blur times sounds complicated, but we made this process really simple. At the heart of MagicBlur is the Curve Editor where you can draw up to 4 separate curves and fluently morph between them using the adjacent XY pad.
Sync your blur times to your DAW is quick and easy. In just a few seconds you can have, for example, a regular eighth blur for the low-mids and a dotted eighth blur for the highs, or any other combination you can think of!
A great plugin needs a great modulation system. Just open up the modulation panel by clicking on an empty modulation slot and get going with a few quick clicks!
The modulation system offers a large range of modulation sources:
- LFOs
- Custom LFO
- Random generators
- Envelope followers (amplitude, pitch, brightness, and more)
- Camera
In addition, the followers can be set to respond to side-chain inputs. Do you want to modulate the pitch of your lead track by using the brightness of your drum track? No problem in our modulation system.
MagicBlur will be available to PC and Mac users (VST3, AU and AAX).
