Reggae Vibes With HoRNet’s JammingRock JC77

HoRNet Plugins have released JammingRock, a plugin designed for emulating the typical reggae-guitarist set up. JammingRock is available for €18.99

JammingRock is inspired by a famous Japanese jazzy amplifier (with a unique solid- state design optimized for producing a clean sound ) used by reggae jazz guitarists such as Al Anderson e Julian “Junior” Marvin, (when they played with Bob Marley & The Wailers) , Peter Tosh, Ernest Ranglin, Earl Chinna Smith, Cat Core and many other.

Why is the jazzy amplifier so popular with reggae musicians? There are two main reasons. The first: it is a very reliable amplifier and does not require constant maintenance, which is why it is also very popular with Jamaican sound engineers, who often request it as a backline in most reggae concerts. Secondly, the JC (..ok, the jazzy amplifier… ) offers guitarists a professional sound at a reasonable price, and furthermore, being a solid state amplifier, it does not require tube replacement and periodic maintenance (and we faithfully replicate this feature in our plugin).

The development of the Hornet Jamming Rock could not be possible without the tight collaboration with a great reggae guitarist: Valter Vincenti (https://www.valtervincenti.it/): Valter has an active collaboration with Alborosie, an internationally renowned reggae star (https://www.alborosie.com/), and thanks to world tours, trips to Jamaica and working in many recording studios, Valter had the opportunity to meet the elite of the reggae world and to “steal” many precious advices.

Here at HoRNet plugins we took advantages of this precious advices to capture the essence of the original amplifier but not only, everything inside the amplifier and around it has been optimized for the modern (and not modern) reggae guitarists.

We have added a screaming overdrive modeled on a green pedal produced by another equally famous Japanese company. The pedal distorts the sound of the guitar and provide a kind of “boost” for the amp tubes.
To complete the effects chain we added two reggae “must to have” effects: a delay and a reverb (in addition to the spring reverb available on the JC).

The delay is digital delay that can be set both manually or in synch with your DAW and a digital reverb (the “circuitry” has been borrowed from our HorNet Spaces) in addition to the one available on the JC.

Features include:

  • Emulation of a famous guitar pedal overdrive
  • Emulation of a clean vintage transistor amp, including spring reverb and distortion
  • Tube mixer preamplifier stage
  • Digital delay module
  • Digital reverb module
  • Intelligent oversampling that allows the plugin to always work internally at 192Khz
  • Vector user interface which is sharp on every resolution
  • Freely resizable user interface
  • Apple Silicon M1 support
  • macOS (10.11 and later) and Windows (Vista and later) support.
  • Presets by Alborosie’s live guitar player Valter Vincenti

JammingRock is available to PC and Mac users (VST2, VST3, AU and AAX).
