A local genre with an international effect, Amapiano has risen from the townships of South Africa a decade ago to become an international phenomenon. Mixing 90s house, high-pitch piano melodies and traditional Kwaito music, this knowledgeable new pack reflects the deeper end of a sound still rapidly evolving, known as Deeper Amapiano.
While the likes of Major League DJZ and DJ Maphorisa have converted their beat making prowess to crossover pop hits, Deep Amapiano instead focuses on the heavier low-end of the genre, ideal for the club but with potential to pop off on the radio, too.
