sonicLAB have released Fundamental 3, a new and improved version of their sound synthesis tool combining different roots of electronic music history, available for €183.00. Fundamental 3 is available as a free upgrade to the Oscillator Bundle (Thermo2 and Fundamental 2) users.
The iOS hasn’t been confirmed but rumours suggest it’s in development.
Fundamental is a sound synthesis tool combining different roots of electronic music history. Fundamental wave engine is a faithful recreation of a vintange Rohde&Schwartz vacuum tube oscillator ( having been widely used at WDR by Stockhausen )
Fundamental leaves behind the limitiations of the original device with a genuine instrument design by proposing effective modulation possibilities, stochastic distributions addressing the sonic parameters like frequency, gain, panning etc. in continuum, which has not been applicable until now.
Fundamental feels like something Stockhausen, Xenakis and HAL 9000 might have dreamt up after a bender; recalling the past of electronic music through a dynamic modern interpretation of massive german vacuum oscillator.
Features include:
- A handful amount of probabilistic functions to distribute the onset and duration values of the stochastic sequencer events.
- Fundamental3 welcomes a stochastic sequencer which generates sequence events driving its oscillators.
- Deterministic distribution of the sequence events is possible with direct editing of the onset time and durations for each event.
- Quantization can be applied to the values like on a DAW and BPM sync with the DAW.
- The sequence length can be manipulated with the probabilistic tools as well.
- Event duration can be altered together with multiplication (to overlap events) and the total sequence can be compressed / expanded in time.
- A new preset bank called “Seq_Studies” demonstrating these new features.
- Forward and forward<->backwards loop playback.
- The sequence events have a dedicated envelope system, apart from the oscillator gain level mixer envelopes. Both can be used at the same time.
- Sequencer event distribution can be frozen and the last state can be saved along with the preset.
- Now each oscillator of Fundamental3 has a clone. When active, it receives the same parameters, however it has its own GEN modulations running apart.
Fundamental 3 is available to PC and Mac users (VST3, AU and standalone).
