Gleb Valin has updated MIDI Messenger to version 2 which finds a number of new features and fixes. MIDI Messenger 2 is available as a FREE download to iOS and MacOS users.
What’s new in version 2:
- Now, you can use the value from a trigger in your messages. This allows you to re-route messages, duplicate them, or modify specific parameters while leaving others unchanged.
- You can now export all message rules as a file and easily import them back. This works between macOS and iOS as well, allowing you to load files saved on one platform in the other.
- New trigger: Program Change
- Added passthrough option for Transport triggers
- Added AU Host Transport triggers
- Added ‘Send’ button to messages
- New events now appear at the top of the log
- Log got ‘Clear’ button
- The entire row in drop-down menus is now clickable
- When you open a long menu, it’ll show you the previously selected value, not the first one
- UI is now responsive, so the message rows adapt better to various window sizes
About MIDI Messenger
Send, catch and process MIDI messages in all possible ways
MIDI Messenger is an AUv3 MIDI plugin that came to life as an answer to the lack of MIDI processors for iOS, but it can be helpful on macOS as well.
It allows creating an endless list of ‘messages’ that will be sent after being triggered by incoming MIDI or system events.
Here’s the list of possible triggers: On Load, CC, Note On, Note Off, Transport Stop, Transport Start, Transport Continue, Pressure. Please keep in mind that in order for Transport triggers to work, you need to pass MIDI clock to MIDI Messenger.
Here are possible message types: CC, Program/Bank Change, Note On, Note Off, Pressure, Pitch Wheel, Sysex, All Sounds Off (CC).
Messages have order, the first message to be triggered and sent is at the top of the list. The last one is at the bottom.
You can specify a delay time in milliseconds so the message is sent a bit later than the trigger-event was detected. You can discard incoming messages that triggered new messages, or pass them through. You can also reorder messages.
