Granular Synthesis is the process of taking short slices of audio – or ‘grains’ – from a longer section of audio. These short grains are typically less than 1 second in length, often much shorter. They are then triggered at certain intervals, sometimes overlapping each other.
The Jellyfish is a live-input granular synthesis engine. It allows musicians to live-record their voice or instruments and to re-purpose that audio to create drones, soundscapes and pulses in real-time.
You can also drag-and-drop your favourite sounds on to The Jellyfish to use them as the basis for new audio experiments.
