Harmonic Table-based Generative MIDI Sequencer.
Hexcel can work in any DAW and with any synth that accepts MIDI input. Hexcel is a fast and simple way to create profoundly creative, complex sequenced melodies and chords.
Hexcel generates midi patterns using semi-random routing and an easy, fun and visual Harmonic Table note-layout. You define your needs and then hear Hexcel turn them into your desires – melodic inspiration and ideas on tap. Here’s how it works…
Harmonic Table: The Harmonic Table Note Layout or tonal array puts all the notes of the major and minor triads at your fingertips. It offers a highly visual, easy to use and supremely creative interface for melodic composition.
Emitter: Patterns are driven by Emitters. Each emitter generates up to 6 “active nodes” which travel in a straight line across the harmonic table. Cells containing an active node are highlighted. Place one or more emitters on the table and define the number and direction of active nodes on each. As an active node moves across the table it will interact with the other tool types it lands on triggering notes, switching direction and composing a generative pattern.
MIDI Note: Each hexagonal cell represents a note that can be selected to form part of a MIDI pattern. Active nodes that enter a selected cell will trigger the note displayed. The note-layout of Hexcel means that higher octaves are at the top and descend to the bottom. Hexcel comes with a handy music theory reference with visual guides on scales and chords.
Reverse: Active nodes that collide with a Reverse will start moving in the opposite direction.
Redirect: Active nodes that enter a Redirect will change direction at random. You may select which directions can be chosen at random using the buttons along the outer rim of Redirect.
Hexcel is available to PC and Mac users (VST3 and AU).
