bx_cleansweep Pro
Every major mixing console from brands like SSL, Neve, etc. has dedicated HP & LP Filters per channel. There is a reason for that!
A joystick control, much like an X/Y pad, helped facilitate intuitive and direct movements towards a cleaner sound stage. The bx_cleansweep design, like it’s bigger siblings – bx_digital V3 and bx_hybrid V2, features Anti-Crush technology. This analog model for filter curves prevents the harshness and aliasing found in many other EQs.
Now, bx_cleansweep PRO is the third reincarnation of the beloved filter plugin!
bx_control V2
bx_control V2 is a powerful monitoring tool and an M/S matrix with built-in Mono Maker & Stereo Width control. bx_control V2 also features high resolution metering for Peak and RMS levels in AES 17 and square wave formats.
This handy little M/S tool can be used for a wide variety of sophisticated applications: control the stereo width of any stereo audio track by simply routing it to the Brainworx M/S matrix. You can also use the bx_control V2’s unique Mono Maker tool to set a threshold frequency below which the stereo signal of your track or mix becomes mono with no loss of power or fidelity — great for managing the low end of your mixes. As a monitoring tool, the bx_control V2 offers solo monitoring to M (mono sum), phase-corrected S (stereo difference signal), and L or R (left or right) mono channels on both speakers, or ” soloed in place” using the four dedicated solo buttons — another Brainworx invention. You can also easily swap channels with the L/R flip button.
bx_hybrid V2
Using heralded filter-designs from Brainworx, the bx_hybrid V2 was re-designed from the ground up to deliver the sound of analog filters combined with awesome digital features and workflow.
bx_hybrid also maps to all the features of the AVID ICON center section EQ, including its Surround Joysticks, which can be used to control the Bass- and Presence-Shifters!
There is nothing like the Bass Shift for tweaking bass drums, and try the Presence Shift for acoustic guitars or female voices.
bx_limiter
To get your mixes to come out of the computer “loud & proud” but punchy and without unwanted distortion, it is necessary to cut off peaks and transients on all channels and stems (i.e., grouped or summed audio channels).
Any pro will tell you: ”Don´t just limit on the master buss!”
Brainworx designed bx_limiter to be used on multiple busses to smoothen things out and glue them together prior to running through a full blown mastering limiter, like the Brainworx bx_XL V2 or bx_masterdesk. These plugins work best – and most importantly sound best – when they don’t have TOO MUCH limiting to do.
bx_opto
The Brainworx bx_opto compressor combines some of the best colors, character and features from what Brainworx has learned modeling the optical circuits of some of the world’s best-loved compressors, like the Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor, the elysia alpha compressor, or the Millennia TCL-2.
But in this case, rather than re-recreating a hardware product in software, the bx_opto takes the best aspects and anomalies from legendary light-dependent Circuits to create a software compressor you wish you could buy in hardware!
Opto Compressors respond differently to different input signals, which is often referred to as being “program dependent”. For example, an opto compressor will react differently to a longer loud part of a song than to a short loud hit in a quiet part, as the photo cells will build up heat over time, which slows down the attack and release times significantly. With opto compressors, everything is moving constantly, and in an ear-pleasing way!
The musical characteristic that optical compression circuits possess, has made them a favorite of professional engineers for decades.
bx_panEQ
Imagine EQ’ing a crash cymbal buried in a pre-recorded stereo mix without affecting instruments panned to other positions in the soundstage. Or how about moving a dead-center lead synth to the left or right of the sound stage to make room for more bass? bx_panEQ offers a comprehensive view into the stereo spatialization of your content and provides intuitive visual controls to help mold the stereo field to your liking. It’s a brand new way to approach stereo-spatial processing.
At the heart of bx_panEQ is a Focus control for each filter; this adjusts how wide the filter’s effect will be in the stereo panorama, allowing for anything from broad strokes to precise adjustments in your mix. The filters’ API-style Proportional Q design pinpoints your EQ tweaks by raising the Q factor as gain is increased or decreased from 0 dB, allowing for even more surgical precision. Solo buttons for each band give insight to the exact changes in frequency response by auditioning the pure difference in signal.
bx_refinement
The Harshness Control allows you to eliminate unpleasant high frequencies from complex signals and during mastering. Based on M/S (Mid/Side) processing, it imparts a tube-like analog smoothness and tames unpleasant digital harshness.
bx_refinement is not an emulation of a certain tube sound. Instead, it combines several characteristics found in musical tube equipment to give you an effective tool that is easy to operate.
With simple controls, bx_refinement allows you to quickly identify and discard offending frequencies.
The oscillation option creates nice warming effects. You can adjust the speed of the oscillator and even sync it to the tempo of your song. This way you can emphasize the groove of your mix.
bx_saturator V2
The bx_saturator V2 is an M/S & multi-band saturation tool that’s ideal for mastering, mixing and sound-design.
It features Brainworx´s “True Split” crossover technology, which ensures that the Mid and Side channels are always perfectly in phase, resulting in focused, huge-sounding mixes and masters.
From subtle mix glue to insane crunch, the bx_saturator V2 lets you fatten and distort Mid and Side signals of your mix independently. You can dial in analog warmth and subtle overdrive on individual tracks, or apply it to the stereo bus to thicken an entire mix.
bx_subsynth
Integrating a mix of classic and modern processing, this 10-ton beast gives music tracks, cinematic special FX and DJs’ sound systems a bottom end that goes all the way to the Earth’s core!
bx_XL V2
The bx_XL V2 provides mastering engineers the ability to deliver loud mixes, without squashing the life out of them. Using the M/S technology from Brainworx’s revolutionary bx_digital EQ, you can split the Mid channel into two bands (high and low), allowing you to control the level of three individual channels—side, mid-high, and mid-low—to increase loudness while drastically improving the clarity of your mixes, with far fewer artifacts and much more punch.
The Brainworx Heritage Bundle is available to PC and Mac users (VST2, VST3, AU and AAX).
