discoDSP have updated Discovery Pro 8 with a number of performance optimizations and enhancements, currently available for £184.99 / $199.00.
What’s new in version 8.4:
- Oscillator Optimizations: We’ve fine-tuned the filter and oscillator code to deliver lightning-fast performance on x86 processors. Apple ARM users will be blown away by the substantial speed boost thanks to our optimized code.
- Wave Oscillator Optimization: By moving from scalar to SIMD processing, we’ve achieved faster processing speeds. The new NEON code for ARM processors and optimized SSE4.1 instructions ensure a snappier, more efficient performance.
- Filter Improvements: Our team has optimized the tangent plot using scalar optimizations, reducing CPU load and improving efficiency. Experience smoother, more responsive filters than ever before.
- Enhanced 4x Oversampling: We’ve implemented 4x oversampling to take your audio fidelity to new heights. Prepare for a superior sound quality that will elevate your productions.
- 2x Undersampling Mode Fixes: We’ve resolved the gain compensation issue in the 2x undersampling mode. It now works flawlessly, ensuring a consistent sound across all settings.
- New Bounce Oversampling Configuration: Customize your oversampling settings during offline rendering with the new Bounce.xml file. The default is set to 4x oversampling for optimal sound quality, but you have the flexibility to adjust it as needed. Find this file in the Documents > discoDSP > Discovery Pro > Config folder.
- New Default Settings: Discovery Pro 8.4 now defaults to 16 voices and 2x oversampling, giving you a solid starting point for your sound design. Easily change these settings through the Edit Menu or by clicking the Voices LCD.
- Updated LCD Status Sections: The LCD now displays the current waveform and destination for LFO1, Arp Mode, and destination for LFO2/Arp. It also shows the waveform for both Oscillator 1 and 2 when buttons or LEDs are pressed, giving you a clear overview of your synth’s state.
