SoundGhost Release Cascade

SoundGhost have released Cascade, available at the intro price of £39.00, increasing to £49.00 after the promotion.

Introducing Cascade – an instrument inspired by the arrhythmic nature of rainfall and windchimes in a controlled environment. we recorded random arrhythmic notes on over 50 different instruments, then overdubbed the recordings to create uniquely scattered sound sources – all tuned to a single note. Partnered with our Jumble engine behind the scenes and a new sub-shimmer reverb, your playing cascades these recordings further into new beautiful moments.

The included sound sources were recorded replicating composer Steve Reichs early experiments with tape. Recording a simple arrhythmic structure in C, we overdubbed the recording with a small cut, creating a phasing effect. This was repeated multiple times until the resulting audio produced something akin to granular, but altogether different. All the recordings were made using a single pitch and are tuned to c, so you can play the instrument like any other.

Behind the scenes, whenever you play a note the play position is randomised, meaning every note creates a new phase of its own. Every sound source utilises one sample with no time stretching – so play a higher note, the sample speeds up, and vice versa. This results in further phased overlaps, so no chord ever sounds the same.

Cascade includes 2 layers, each containing 100 textural layers crafted from acoustic instruments, and a few electronic for taste. each source is a unique texture which when combined with other sound sources and your playing, create cascaded soundscapes. you can also click the dice icon to randomly select new layers.

Click the dice to randomise which two sound sources are loaded, so you get entirely new textures at the click of a button. Rather than randomise all the engine, we focused on sound source randomisation, so your envelope, filter and submerge settings remain intact.

Cascade includes a new shimmer reverb ‘submerge’, this time focusing on a combined reverse and sub-octave reverb, resulting in huge and expansive reflections. submerge adds depth and warmth to the soundscapes and can also help smoothen out the sound, if you wish.

The inspiration for cascade came from combining the concepts behind a few of our most popular plugins. if you enjoyed texturize for its textural content, you’ll enjoy cascade for creating melodic textures. the ‘submerge’ reverb combines ideas from our ‘cloud’ and ‘scatter’ reverbs, whereas the core concept is inspired by combining ideas behind our tundra and jumble instruments.

Features include:
