Kilohearts Release Filter Table

Kilohearts have released Filter Table, available for $39.00.

Filter Table converts the harmonic content of a wavetable frame into a distinctive filter shape that can be applied to any incoming audio. Scanning through the wavetable will smoothly adjust the filter shape. As with all Kilohearts effects, it’s impressive on its own, but becomes truly mind-blowing when combined and modulated with other effects in Phase Plant, Snap Heap, or Multipass.

Filter Table comes with controls for all necessary parameters in a clear and to-the-point interface.

The Cutoff control sets the frequency of harmonic 24 in the wavetable, with keytracking available in any of our Snapin Hosts via the Note Modulator for precise tonal alignment. Mix adjusts the wet/dry balance, allowing some unmodified signal through, which may generate interesting phasing effects depending on the phase mode selected. Adjusting Resonance heightens or attenuates the prominence of filter peaks and troughs, altering the strength of the effect. Use extreme settings for extreme results!

The different Phase Modes correspond to different phase responses: MINIMUM for a snappy, latency-free response; LINEAR for phase alignment, ideal for parallel processing; ORIGINAL for preserving the natural phase relationships of the wavetable; and RAW, which uses the unprocessed waveform as a filter kernel, adding unpredictable character. Each Phase Mode offers a unique way to explore Filter Table’s filtering capabilities.

Once you hear what Filter Table brings to the table (pun intended), you’ll see why it’s already creating such a buzz in the music production and sound design community. Filter Table is a fun and unique tool for adding unexplored dimensions to your audio, giving you the edge to push your projects into new territory.

Drag and drop any wavetables, convert samples, or create and edit your own custom tables using the powerful Kilohearts Wavetable Editor, opening up even more creative possibilities.

As well as being a regular plugin you can use in your DAW, Filter Table is also available as a Snapin in our Snapin Hosts: Snap Heap, Multipass and Phase Plant. Letting you combine it with other effects for fully customised sound processing. And with Kilohearts’ signature user-friendly design, you can dive right in without a learning curve.

And remember, here at Kilohearts, we are committed to continuous improvement, with free lifetime updates for all our plugins. We will continue to improve our products, ensuring you stay at the forefront of sound design when using our tools.

Features include:

  • 3D graph – A visualization of the available frames in the loaded table. Click and drag to change frame.
  • Spectrum Plot – A visualization of the currently selected frame tranformed into a filter response.
  • Table selector – Selects a table from the Table browser. Click the popup button to open the table editor.
  • Cutoff – The cutoff frequency of the resulting filter. In Filter Table the cutoff signifies the frequency of harmonic 24 in the Wavetable. You can keytrack the cutoff just like in our other filters by modulating it with the Note modulator at 100%.
  • Resonance – Emphasizes filter peaks and troughs even more.
  • Mix – The dry/wet mix of this effect. A lower value will let some of the unmodified signal through. Depending on the selected phase mode, the mix know might intoduce “interesting” phasing artefacts.
  • Phase Modes – Selects between different phase response mode of the filter:
    • MINIMUM – This creates a snappy and tight filter response without any latency.
    • LINEAR – The Linear phase mode add some latency, but all phases will be aligned with the input, which can be important for parallel processing, and smooth operation of the Mix knob.
    • ORIGINAL – This mode attempts to preserve the phases relationships of the wavetable as closely as possible. It introduces some latency.
    • RAW – Raw mode uses the waveform in the selected frame as a filter kernel with as little processing as possible applied. This can create unpredictable artefacts.
