Orchestral Tools have released Berlin Solo Strings, available at the intro price of €299.00, increasing to €399.00 after the promotion. The offer ends Jabuary 5th.
Expressive and detailed solo strings—take control of four virtuoso soloists, ready to perform each note with finesse and precision. With three distinct playing styles, multiple legato options, and a wealth of articulations, these four solo instruments deliver the sweet spot between intuitive playability and comprehensive detail.
Orchestral Tools designed Berlin Solo Strings to be not only the most expressive strings available, but also the most versatile. Choose the right mood for the job with three sets of legato and sustains: For soaring lead melodies with lots of ‘passione’, the expressive articulation set delivers all the emotional intensity necessary. For general purpose scoring, the cinematic set has you covered. And for the moments of quiet introspection, the sul tasto articulation set offers the restraint and subtlety required. Each style comes with its own dedicated legato, automatic note transitions, and vibrato control.
Orchestral Tools set out to deliver solo strings that not only play well, but also offer the detail you need for the surgical work that transforms a good mock-up into a great one. A comprehensive articulation set is a clear necessity here, so on top of the legatos and sustains, Berlin Solo Strings gives you FX sustains, 3 different marcatos, staccato, spiccato, and pizzicato.
You also get a separate folder of dynamics and ornaments, with swells, repetitions, tremolo, and trills—the measured trills in particular are a true highlight, offering a melodic see-saw with a choice of 5 different note intervals.
The articulations are consistent across the instruments, so it’s easy to copy-paste passages between tracks and audition your ideas from one instrument to another—a real time-saver for the professional composer.
The four instruments in Berlin Solo Strings are designed to perform as soloists—their rich, complex sound and expression let them shine when playing alone. But they’re equally at home taking on melodic duties in front of a bigger string section, where their character and dynamics allow them to soar over the wider sections. And of course, recorded in situ, these four soloists also combine well as a quartet.
