Bunker Samples have released Intimate Cello Ext.Har Lite, available as a FREE download. Newsletter subscription required.
At the Iremia cello session, Bucket Samples recorded some open string natural harmonics, but these never made it into the final product, so instead they spent the Christmas Holiday turning it into a little freebie for you.
Made from natural cello harmonics, but unlike the viola version, you don’t get any mic positions. Instead, you get 5 different harmonic samples, both con sordino and normale, each with a different root note but stretched across the same range, and each with it’s own slider so you can extract a wide variety of timbres by balancing the levels. The crossfade from con sordino to normale articulation is incredibly expressive, with a very Scandi Noir quality to it.
Ext.Har stands for extended harmonics – a new free library made from two natural viola harmonics, sourced from the Iremia sessions. This is old school sampling at it’s best, taking a single sample and stretching it across the keyboard, except here you actually get two samples, so you can seamlessly morph from muted to non-muted. It sounds distinctive, Nordic and somewhere between a flute, and organ and a cello.
Features include:
- Con Sordino and Normale natural harmonics
- 5 different timbres for each
- Balance, solo and mute for infinite sonic variety
- Crossfade from Con Sordino to Normale
- Perfect for scoring Scandi Noir Winter dramas with people in sweaters looking out rainy windows
- And a whole lot more
