Davy Wentzier has recently pushed through a number of updates for Audio Evolution Mobile Studio, here’s another. Audio Evolution Mobile Studio is currently available for $11.99. Audio Evolution also has a number of optional in-app purchases available to pick up.
What’s new in version 6.8.1:
- Many actions can now be done during playback, most of them without a pause, some with a short pause.
- Changed the colors of the piano roll and drum pattern editor into a dark mode.
- Added a ‘Multi-instrument’ option when creating a drum pattern track: in this mode, you can assign an audio file or a sound from a Soundfont to a drum ‘lane’. This makes it possible to use your own sounds in the drum pattern editor. Each drum lane now also features its own audio processing chain, meaning that it has its own effects grid, volume, panning, ADSR, pitch shift and basic reverb controls. You can use the iOS drap & drop mechanism to import drum sounds as well (max. file size 4MB).
- A free drum sound pack consisting of 80 high quality drum samples for use with the multi-instrument drum pattern editor can be downloaded. It features a wide range of kicks, snares, hihats, toms, etc. sorted by different genres: 80’s Retrowave, Acoustic, EDM, Foley, Hip Hop, Industrial and Reggaeton.
- Optional in-app purchase to extend the free drum sound pack with 420 more high quality drum samples.
- Added multi-output support for AUv3 instruments. Additional outputs can be sent to mix busses.
- New Settings screen to match the app’s style.
- Multiple mixer controls can now be adjusted simultaneously.
- Added an ‘Import Soundfont’ option to the instrument selection dialog (although Soundfonts can always be copied directly using the Files app to the AudioEvolution/SoundFonts folder).
- Added a ‘Share’ option to the file pop-up menu in the file browser.
- Added an option ‘Draw grid on top of clips’ which now defaults to ‘off’.
- Changes to tempo markers can now be undo/redone.
- The audio input dialog now makes it possible to select between different inputs of the device itself, so you can for example select the iPad microphone even if a headset is connected.
- The state of the AU button in the instrument display is now remembered and stored with the project.
- When editing notes outside the current clip area, the clip will now be automatically expanded.
- Added a Quantize option to the pop-up menu of selected notes in the piano roll editor.
- Added a ‘Select all’ button to the piano roll editor in Edit mode.
- The mixer can now be scrolled when dragging in the volume slider area.
- The available memory is now displayed in the instrument selection dialog. The app will now refuse to load Soundfonts when the available memory is lower than 250MB to prevent out-of-memory crashes.
- Added an ‘Auto split’ option to the audio clip pop-up menu.
- Added an option ‘MIDI loop recording’.
- Added an option to test the new plug-in delay compensation that works for both audio and instrument tracks (non-armed) to the BETA section of the new settings dialog.
- The size of the AU MIDI view is now remembered and stored in the project (half/full size) and the option ‘Open AU in full screen’ has been removed from the Settings.
- Portuguese translation
- Solved a crash that could occur when MIDI was received while adding or removing a track.
- Replacing an effect with the display active of the target effect block could cause a crash. Solved.
- A split point could be erroneously added when moving your finger beyond the display edge. Solved.
- Long-tapping a position on the arranger screen and selecting Paste could paste at the wrong location. Solved.
- MIDI parameter control settings for Evolution One were not set when loading a project. Solved.
- Solved a timing issue for MIDI events being recorded from a AU MIDI processor.
- Marquee selection in the piano roll did not handle scrolling correctly. Solved.
- Selected events in the piano roll could be moved to a negative offset. Solved.
- When a MIDI device transmitted Active Sensing events, this could lead to other MIDI events not being parsed correctly, which could result in hanging notes etc.
- and more..
Record your ideas on the go or create entire music productions from scratch, we’ll leave it up to you! This app is a portable multitrack audio and MIDI recording studio featuring virtual instruments, editing with unlimited undo/redo, mixing, real-time effects, automation and much more!
There are a variety of tools at your disposal to edit your recordings: move, trim, split, cut, copy, paste, cross-fade, time stretch and repeat to name a few. And all these actions can be performed without worrying about touching your original recordings: every action is non-destructive, meaning that the actual cutting and splitting is not done on the actual sample data itself! We just keep references to all bits and pieces you are slicing up. And in addition, there is an unlimited undo and redo feature that will take back every step you make in case you do not like the edits you have just done.
With this unique feature on mobile, pitch and time in vocal recordings can be edited in high detail. A piano-roll like view displays audio with the same pitch as separate notes, which can then be adjusted up and down for pitch correction or modification. The retune time, retune amount, volume and amount of formant correction can be set globally or for each individual note. When needed, artificial vibrato can also be applied to each note with parameters for vibrato depth, rate and settings to adjust the time when the vibrato kicks in and the time in which it reaches the full vibrato depth to obtain a natural sounding vibrato. Individual notes or groups of notes can also be time corrected, adjusting phrases that are off-beat. Vocal Tune Studio can detect the key and scale of a vocal recording automatically or a key and scale can be manually chosen.
Aside from vocal pitch correction, Vocal Tune Studio also features a generic time correction/stretching mode which works on any type of audio material (not only vocals, but also guitars etc.). In this mode, any part of a recording that was played off-beat can be time corrected without affecting parts that were recorded in time.
Vocal Tune Studio has been fine-tuned to provide the highest quality compared to desktop offerings and is available now within Audio Evolution Mobile Studio on Android and iOS as an in-app purchase.
After recording your takes, importing your samples and doing some editing, it’s time to balance your audio tracks, apply some EQ-ing and put some real-time effects in there! Although you can see one mixer channel in the arrange screen for the selected track, the mixer screen will give you access to all channels at once. Slide your finger over the mixer page indicator at the bottom to explore the different mixer components: volume, panning, mute, solo, arm, EQ, 3 insert fx, 2 fx sends, and input and output selection are at your disposal for every individual channel.
The master mixer screen allows you to manipulate the stereo master bus and you can even create multiple busses for use as subgroups of fx returns. For example, assign all your drum tracks to one drums subgroup and you can change the volume of the complete drum kit with just one fader.
With mixer automation you can become truly creative! Volume, panning, mute and all insert effect parameters can be completely automated without any user interaction: create fades or silence short sections by drawing simple curves. Create cross-fades by fading out one track while fading in the other.
