Drop Pad 2 by Soundtrax, in collaboration with Sub51, is a unique and inspiring sample-based Kontakt instrument. It allows for dynamic blending of four imported custom sound sources to create complex, evolving sounds.
With its intuitive drag-and-drop interface and powerful modulation options, Drop Pad 2 is perfect for creating constantly changing textures. You can easily import new samples by dragging and dropping files from any disk location onto one of the four squares on the interface. New samples will replace older audio files. After a successful import, the waveform of the imported sample will be visible. Drop Pad 2 supports WAV, AIFF, NCW, and REX files in Mono or Stereo.
A key feature of Drop Pad 2 is its dynamic morphing and warping capabilities. MORPH is a circular/sinusoidal movement of the cursor on the main XY-pad, allowing the volume of each sample to change and cross-fade with the others. This movement can be in auto or manual mode. WARP, on the other hand, consists of immediate, automated jumps of the cursor position, which can be applied on top of the MORPH movement.
Drop Pad 2 offers a versatile modulation section with a low pass filter, a peak filter, and a high pass filter, each assignable to the four sample pads.
- Filter settings can be modulated via WARP shapes.
- LFO modulation is available for PAN and PITCH.
- The FX section utilizes Kontakt’s powerful effects, allowing up to seven effects to be added globally.
Drop Pad 2 features two different sample playback modes: SAMPLER MODE and TM (Time Machine) PRO MODE.
- SAMPLER MODE: Samples mapped across several keys will play tonally, and this mode is CPU efficient.
- TM PRO MODE: Syncs to your host/DAW, recommended for drum/rhythmic loops, and is more CPU intensive.
