Experience the realsamples Italian Harpsichord 1540, a meticulously sampled instrument from around 1540, one of the earliest preserved Italian harpsichords. Its typical light Italian construction delivers a beautifully resonant tone.
Captured with extensive round robin sampling for incredibly smooth and musical trills and fast passages, this library for Kontakt offers authentic meantone temperament at its original 402 Hz, along with 440 Hz presets in both meantone and equal temperament.
The Italian Harpsichord 1540 library boasts an exceptionally detailed sampling process to ensure a natural and expressive sound. Each of the harpsichord’s keys was recorded with eight round robin variations. This comprehensive round robin implementation is crucial for avoiding the artificial “machine gun” effect that can occur when repeated notes trigger the same sample.
This attention to detail in the sampling allows for remarkably smooth and musical performances, especially during fast passages and trills. The subtle variations introduced by the different round robin samples on each note create a more organic and engaging sonic experience, accurately reflecting the nuances of the physical instrument.
Furthermore, the acoustic impression of a harpsichord is significantly influenced by the sound of the keys being released. To capture this vital aspect of the instrument’s character, realsamples recorded the key release sounds with four round robin samples per key.
These release samples add a layer of realism and depth to the library, contributing to the overall authentic and playable feel of the Italian Harpsichord 1540. The inclusion of multiple release variations ensures that even staccato passages and repeated notes have a natural decay and articulation.
