Protean is a unique software synthesizer, a ground-breaking audio/visual instrument for sound designers and composers. It uses fluid dynamics and relevant particle forces/interactions to render and organize hundreds of sine waves.
It incorporates additive synthesis, frequency modulation (FM) synthesis, and modal synthesis, using hundreds of sine waves.

Protean employs three primary synthesis methods to create its unique sound textures:
