Native Instruments Release Circular – Polyphonic Sequencer

Native Instruments have released Circular, available for £179.00.

Circular begins with a single note, but it never stays there. It moves, shifts, and evolves into a living, cinematic sequence. With four fully independent layers, each step becomes a canvas — modulating pitch, filter, and effects in real time. What starts as a simple sketch quickly transforms into a motion-rich score, giving you the speed to compose fast and the depth to create something truly your own.

From soft music boxes and felted keys to bowed ceramics, brushed guitars, and reversed bells, Circular’s palette is rooted in contrast — soft and harsh, acoustic and synthetic, familiar and strange. Explore prepared pianos, intimate object recordings, airy saxophones, tuned metals, processed vocals, and hybrid synths — all shaped to move and unfold across time.

Layer up to four sound sources at once, each with its own sequence, effects, and modulation. Circular’s polyphonic sequencer transforms static notes into evolving patterns, with per-step control over all synthesis parameters – even the sample. Each layer runs independently, letting you craft dynamic polyrhythms and richly textured performances in seconds.

Circular gives you deep control without slowing your flow. Apply granular effects, unison, delay, and more on a per-step basis, with instant visual feedback and playful drag-and-draw modulation. Polyphonic aftertouch adds expressive nuance to every note, making your patterns feel tactile, dynamic, and alive from the first step.

Drop in your own samples and watch Circular work its magic. Whether it’s a whispered vocal, the rawness of a field recording, or gently plucked strings, your sounds are transformed into evolving sequences full of texture, rhythm, and motion. Add multiple samples at once, each mapped to one of 128 user slots, then shape them into something entirely new.

With its powerful polyphonic aftertouch support, Circular seamlessly integrates with our new Kontrol S-Series keyboards, allowing you to modulate sequencing notes expressively. Easily browse and control your sounds using the detailed display, and take advantage of the Light Guide to visualize sequencing and key ranges for enhanced playability.

Circular follows a trilogy of renowned granular instruments Straylight, Pharlight, and Ashlight – all developed by Frank Elting, who leads the concept, programming, and sample content. Created in collaboration with boutique sound design agency The Most Human Colors, Elting also partnered with leading sound designers, including Samuel Estes (noted for his work with Hans Zimmer) and The Solos, who have shaped trailers for Godzilla, Black Panther, and Game of Thrones.
