Mastering The Mix have introduced EQ Academy, a completely FREE gamified ear training tool that’s for music producers.
EQ Academy is a transformative training ground designed to sharpen your ears and refine your mixing instincts. With 100 levels spread across 10 sections (EQ Explorer, Frequency Finder, Sound Sculptor, etc). You’ll progress from the fundamentals to mastering advanced EQ techniques.
Each section introduces new challenges, from EQ gain adjustments to frequency positioning, Q bandwidth control, and mid/side processing. Every level pushes you further, unlocking the next stage when you meet the required score.
After completing 10 levels, you’ll unlock your personal stats in the bottom left corner of the journey page, tracking your Global Rank, which is where you rank against all other EQ Academy players, your Mastery Score, which is your average score across all levels, and the total challenges you’ve played. This helps you keep track of exactly how far you’ve come.
In the bottom right corner of the journey page you’ll see the streak bonuses which keep you motivated—more on those later.
At the center of the screen, you’ll find your current level, which displays your best score, and the minimum score needed to advance. Want a heads-up on what’s coming? Click the ‘i’ icon to preview the level’s challenges.
Pass the section milestone test to earn music trophies, marking your evolution from an EQ Explorer to the ultimate Master Engineer at level 100.
Click Start or click the center level to enter the Game Play.
