The Crow Hill Co. have re-released Glass Strings, available at the intro price of £149.00, increasing to £199.00 after the promotion. The offer ends July 31st.
Finally a library that will do everything you need to create seminal string music. Whether that be for film, TV, computer games or pop tracks. There is a secondary desire to share The Crow Hill Co.’s self-taught understanding of making music that tells stories, to people who fear that they are unable. The Crow Hill Co. want to prove there is nothing to fear. This objective meant The Crow Hill Co. shouted and rowed about the price of this. but inclusivity and diversity of experience and spirit in our art-space is key to its survival. So here it is, their love letter to music makers, including the ones who don’t even know it yet. Glass strings, be an individual and create a lens of your own to tell stories through.
The Crow Hill Co. comissioned a small ensemble of musicians who could bring their own personality creativity and open mindedness to the sampling process. The Crow Hill Co. asked them to throw out all pre-conceptions about how to approach these recordings and gave them one simple rule – Make EVERY note sound different. Glass strings is the result of these extensive work-shops where each and every member brought new ideas and novel playing styles to the table and bounced off each other to create an extraordinary set of tools.
There is no one in Crow Hill who isn’t an adventurer, a creative, a dabbler. Dare we say it, or indeed, a misfit. They have struggled for decades with the foibles of sampled strings and the fact that you get frequency peaking that doesn’t allow you to be as dynamic as real orchestras. The answer our head of product came up with is the “Glass” control, which gave this library its name. It’s a way of managing (reducing or boosting) the fundamentals of each and every note. To give you brighter tones, warmer tones, but also make sure you can give your listener a true sense of the explosive power of a string band.
This is the Crow Hill Co. first key-switch instrument whereby you can load up to 8 different articulations into a single preset with a single uniform balance of microphones and processing. They have prepared numerous presets to get you going with intimate mixes for pop tracks to full scale Hollwood widescreen epic-ness. The Crow Hill Co. have also developed a choice of presets that suit those of you who have different workflows and approaches including single articulation presets that have the key-switches removed for those of you who play fast and lose with the bottom-end of your controller keyboard.
