Wrongtools have announced Mule Piano, available to pre-order for €39.00, increasing to €78.00. Mule Piano is set for release on September 2nd.
Mule Piano is a quirky Kontakt piano library featuring a prepared grand piano altered with various objects like cork, chains, and paper to create unique sounds.
The library includes 23 patches with 2897 samples, totaling 3.5 GB in size, and is designed for Kontakt 6.4.2 and up, offering a range of unconventional piano sounds.
Mule Piano offers several character-driven pianos, including PAPER GRAND, CORK PIANO, SPZZ GRAND, and MALLET GRAND, providing composers with a palette of unusual and beautiful sounds.
Mule Piano aims to set composers apart in the evolving musical landscape with its niche piano instruments and sound-shaping tools.
- PAPER GRAND : A piano with pieces of cigarette-paper and Japanese rice paper, between the strings and the hammers, creating a delicately uplifting piano sound.
- CORK PIANO : Small pieces of cork to achieve a desired tonal sonority. For the lower strings, we had upto three pieces of cork squeezed between each string.
- SPZZ GRAND : Performed with many long lines of jewelry chain on top of the strings. This ain’t no concert grand, fresh off the boat from Germany. This is a piano that’s seen some things. Got some stories etched into its old wood.
- MALLET GRAND : Small Rubber Mallets softly hitting the strings: A somewhat gamelan-esque sound.
Mules Piano requires a full version of Kontakt 6.4.2 or later.
