Epic Tamborims is Schallenberg Engineering’s first library for the new Collision Series, which is all about high-end, authentic and detailed percussion.
We sampled a Tamborim, a tiny 6″ drum with an unbelievably sharp attack in eight different tunings from low to high. Along with the 8 individual instrument patches, there are 12 Multi Patches. These give you different ensemble combinations for quick usage.
All samples have been mixed to have an authentic, and biting sound , but with that cinematic weight and depth.
Recorded in a large room, the MID and ROOM mics have a lively reverb while the CLOSE mic is very dry, giving a lot of flexibility to shape the sound. Each tuning has a unique tone.
The Tamborim is a brazilian frame drum, not to be confused with the Tambourin.
It’s usually used in brazilian samba music and played with a smaller stick or special beater, but for this library we just took a regular drumstick and hit it as hard as we can.
Features include:
- The ADSR can be set for each microphone individually
- Each Round Robin can be turned on and off
- You have total control over which key triggers which sound
- Alternative sample mapping, where low keys are low dynamic and high keys are high dynamic
- Delay compensating pitching
- Random delay for livelyness
- Adjustable onset (negative track delay)
- Customizable output assignments
