Loopmasters and Loopcloud have announced the recent addition of Y2K – New Millennium Drum & Bass by Loopmasters.
Y2K – New Millennium Drum & Bass from Loopmasters is a unique drum and bass compilation inspired by top-tier labels such as Metalheadz & Dispatch. The sample pack produced by Martyn Nytram follows the jungle scene right from the start of 1992, making it authentic and boasting that flavor from the early noughties. With loops that play at tempos between 172 and 175, Y2K – New Millennium Drum & Bass was designed to fit seamlessly into all of your productions.
Martyn Nytram, originally a DJ, began his music production career in 2005. This led him to study music production in college, after which he released drum and bass tracks on many labels, including ProgRam, MAC2, Audio Addict, and primarily Dread Recordings. He’s already released three EPs and has a long-awaited album landing at the end of this year. In 2019, Martyn Nytram put out his first sample pack with Ray Keith on Dread Recordings. He is also the proud owner of his own drum and bass label, Hardpoint Recordings, now in its seventh year, which has featured releases from top artists such as Conrad Subs, Nemy, Dunk, E-LISA, Section, Kumarachi, and many more.
Y2K – New Millennium Drum & Bass contains a variety of both one-shots and loops. There’s a range of atmospheres, synth basslines, dynamic drums, top loops, bright synthesizers, and effects like risers and sweeps.
Using Logic X, a lot of these basses and synth sounds were made in Serum. Martyn used quite a bit of distortion with Ident 2 to get that harsh, growly tech sound. Additionally, the atmospheres were injected with the proper amount of reverb to give them more space, and this was accomplished using Logic’s own Step FX with various ambient settings. For the more complex bass loops, Logic’s EXS24 sampler was used. Some of the sounds were also created by chopping up many old sounds that were then swirled into each other to create intricate melodies. In terms of rhythmic sounds, some were carefully chosen from old classic breaks, chopped up, EQed, and then layered with multiple grooves to form unique loops.
