Bunker Samples Release Iremia Swells Collection – For Kontakt

Bunker Samples have released Iremia Swells Collection, available at the intro price of $49.00, increasing to $99.00 after the promotion. The offer ends November 16th.

There’s something about the musical gesture of a swell that we as humans instantly connect with, perhaps because it’s reminiscent of our own breath; a crescendo that builds from nothing, peaks and then fades back to nothing, like an exhale. Whatever it is, these swells feel like a cheat code to add something very human and emotional to your music and gives you that instant Scandi Noir vibe.

The Iremia series was developed with a singular focus in mind: to be as intimate and human sounding as possible. I also wanted it to be great for chordal playing, and the swells are no exception to this – they can stand alone or you use them as accompaniment under pretty much anything and immediately add a great sense of intimacy and frailty to your composition.

Previously only available inside the full Iremia instruments, this collection brings together all the swells from the series in one affordable package, meaning you get the swells from all three instruments: violin, viola and cello. If you decide to upgrade to the full version of any of the instruments later, you will receive a loyalty discount, so you will not be charged for the swells again.

You get four different lengths of each swell: 4, 3, 2 and 1 seconds, easily selectable via key switches or the GUI, so you can always find a swell that fits your needs.

And if the standard lengths don’t quite fit, you can use the Time Machine Pro patches which lets you alter the length from 75 to 130% without sacrificing sound quality.

When you play really, really soft on a string instrument, it brings all the microscopic details and human imperfections in the sound to the forefront, but you need to get very close to capture these incredibly soft sounds. That’s why we recorded Iremia with five different mic positions, three of which are close.

  • Inside: A small omnidirectional microphone floated inside the body of the instrument itself. Adds body and a surprising amount of detail.
  • Super Close: Two Aston mics pointed directly at the bow contact point for incredible detail.
  • Close: A more traditional close perspective a bit further away, made up of a Neumann U87 and two MK184. A very warm and balanced sound.
  • Mid: A pair of AKG 414s in the middle of the room for depth and cohesion.
  • Far: Two Telefunken M60 at the back of the room for even more spaciousness and width.

The GUI is incredibly easy to use, simply select which swell you want, and then select length. You can also do this with programmable key switches (which are moveable).

The excellent Replika delay and a convolution reverb is built in, and you can send individual amounts to the FX from each microphone channel. Great for adding a background sheen, while keeping one of the close mics dry and up front.

You can also align all sample starts to that of the inside mic for instantly darker and fuller sound, and the dynamics slider has full controls for simulated dynamics, range and velocity control built in, giving you total control over how the instrument responds to your playing.

Features include:

  • Align sample start – phase aligns all mic perspectives to the inside mic for a darker tone without the need for EQ.
  • Movable key-switches.
  • Option to display key switch note names directly on the GUI.
  • Purge microphone channels from memory with the mute button.
  • Extended simulated dynamics.
  • Full control over the dynamic range – make the instrumnet react the way you want it to.
  • Fully adjustable velocity control.
  • Per mic stereo width and pan controls.
  • Per mic Delay and Reverb sends.
  • Route each mic directly to Kontakt’s discrete outputs, so you can process them individually in your DAW.
