The Drum Factory SDX, produced and engineered by the acclaimed Sylvia Massy, offers an expansive collection of drum sounds for Superior Drummer 3, featuring seven distinct drum kits recorded in the legendary La Fabrique studios in Southern France.
Sylvia Massy, known for her unconventional and fearless approach to recording with artists like Tool and System of a Down, brought her unique creative vision to this expansion, utilizing experimental techniques and a wide array of vintage and modern gear.
The recording sessions took place across four meticulously chosen ambiences within La Fabrique: the massive Dark Room for powerful rock and metal sounds, the intimate Library with vintage kits, the reverberant Arcades, and the stone-built Mill with its natural hall-like reverb.
Each of the seven drum kits, including the Octagon, Crocodile, Orbit, Sunset, Cobalt, Ombre, and Hardwood kits, was recorded in specific rooms and features a comprehensive selection of drums and cymbals, totaling 13 kicks, 15 snares, and 30 toms.
The SDX includes a diverse collection of close to 70 mix-ready presets, engineered by Sylvia Massy herself, which incorporate various mic blends, routing, saturation, and even layers of her signature one-shot samples for enhanced character.
Complementing the drum sounds, the expansion provides a curated library of MIDI grooves specifically tailored for the included kits, primarily focusing on heavy rock and metal styles, but adaptable for any genre.
With approximately 140 GB of required disk space and 8 GB of RAM (16 GB recommended), The Drum Factory SDX aims to unhinge user creativity by providing an extraordinary sonic palette and an immersive recording experience.
The Drum Factory requires Superior Drummer 3.4.1 or later.
