Neo Soul emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s as an offshoot of the more commercial R&B of the time. While its roots lie in traditional soul, it introduced a more organic and contemporary sound. The genre reached mainstream success in the late 1990s with artists such as D’Angelo, Erykah Badu, and Lauryn Hill. Musically, Neo Soul fuses classic 1970s soul and funk with hip-hop beats, enriched by harmonies and instrumentation drawn from jazz and gospel. More contemporary artists include Jill Scott, Macy Gray, and John Legend.
Neo Soul Keys features 12 folders of electronic piano loops, each clearly labeled with tempo and key information. These loops were captured during a series of live sessions performed by experienced session pianist Mike Taylor. The recordings were first tracked live into Sibelius, allowing for detailed editing and the creation of precise MIDI files. The loops were then exported into Pro Tools for post-production editing and mastering, before being finalized as WAV files. Bursting with creativity, this pack contains 300 loops alongside their corresponding MIDI files, giving you complete control to tweak and customize.
