Beat ReBuilder is a novel new audio classification plugin that lets you find and replace the various elements of a beat.
Features include:
- Decompose Beats – Beat ReBuilder detects percussive sounds within audio. Once identified, you can layer your own samples on top of the beat or replace it entirely. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the MIDI data for use in your own drum machine.
- MIDI Clips – Beat ReBuilder keeps a loop of the most recent audio, allowing you to take audio loops and create a corresponding midi loop, which can be dragged into the DAW for use in drum tracks or sequencers.
- Crossfade & EQ – Beat ReBuilder can also act as a real time beat layering machine, creating a layer of new beats to augment the input. The addition of EQ and a crossfade means you can treat this like a DJ environment, using the newly created beats for transitions in a variety of ways.
- Continuous MIDI Output – Additionally, Beat ReBuilder continuously parses incoming audio and outputs a midi stream to match it in real time. Once tuned, this output can be used to find the position of each beat in a song, and used to quickly build a track for augmenting the existing audio drum track.
Using audio fingerprinting technology you are able to decode the various parts of a beat (kick / bell / splash / etc). Once decoded, you can use this plugin to add new layers of sound over the incoming audio in perfect time, replacing or augmenting kicks or snares as you go, creating new parts that match the beat precisely or loosely, and replacing some or all of the beat.
The mixing tab allows you to crossfade between the new and old beats, or drop the hi / mid low parts and mix them in a DJ like fashion. This works great for transitions. You also have effects, and control over the panning and volume of the various parts of the reconstituted beat.
The plugin also outputs live midi in tandem with the audio, allowing you to use this to craft a midi track that matches existing audio, for use with other drum machines or to do beat replacement or layering in the DAW. You can also easily grab a 1 measure loop of the existing midi track at any time, making for an easy drag-n-drop approach to ripping new beats from existing tracks.
Finally, there are a large number of presets that give you drum sets / drum machines and ambient sounds to use as samples for crafting new loops / beats or soundscapes. There are also some effect slots and automation options to round out the audio and allow advanced users to go deeper.
