Eftilo AB have updated Stambecco, available for €60.00.

What’s new in version 1.1.0:

  • Improved anti-aliasing.
  • DC offset removal.
  • Minor UI adjustments.
  • Added tooltips to some parameters.
  • Bug fix and improvements.

It’s a bit hard to come up with a simple definition for Stambecco.

Depending on how it’s set, Stambecco functions as a stereo harmonic tremolo, auto-wah, classic/pattern tremolo, preamp, dynamic filter,  rhythmic stutter and much more. The interface is designed with usability and immediacy in mind, so each effect can be achieved quickly with just a few tweaks.

At the core of Stambecco there is a circuit-modeled, state-blendable filter with adjustable FREQUENCY and RESONANCE. TONE COLOR enables smooth transitions between low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass modes, while TONE SLOPE offers four slope options to define how sharply frequencies are cut.

Similar to Scirocco, Stambecco’s filter is non-linear, meaning its behavior changes depending on the signal level it receives. High-level inputs saturate the filter, resulting in rich harmonic content and reduced resonance.

The filter cutoff is modulated by two sources: PATTERN and ENV.

The first, PATTERN, is a stereo pattern generator. Think of it as a highly versatile stereo LFO that can range from a classic mono triangle wave to complex, evolving rhythmic stereo chops with just a few simple tweaks. It generates two patterns that can be combined to create unique rhythmic sequences and panned for dramatic stereo effects. Controls for SPEED, stereo WIDTH, and wave SHAPE offer flexible adjustments, with the option to sync to DAW tempo for added precision.

The second source, ENV, extracts the input signal’s envelope to create auto-wah and filter sweep effects, while also modulating the  PATTERN rate and depth to bring variation to the generated rhythmic sequences. SPEED sets sets how quickly the envelope follower reacts to volume changes, while  SENSITIVITY adjusts how much of the extracted amplitude profile is used to modulate the PATTERN settings.

Stambecco also features a HIDDEN PANEL with secondary settings that introduce even more variations to the selectable patterns, fine-tune the amount of distortion, and transform Stambecco from a harmonic tremolo to a classic one.

Stambecco includes a preset manager too, making it easy to save and recall your favorite settings.

Stambecco is available to PC and Mac users (VST3 and AU).
