Cherry Audio’s SH-MAX is a powerful software synthesizer that uniquely blends the iconic sounds and features of three classic 1970s instruments: the SH-5, SH-7, and SH-3A.
It meticulously reproduces the SH-5’s core elements, including dual oscillators, LFOs, parallel filters, ring modulator, and sample & hold, while integrating enhanced features from the SH-7 like autobend, duophony, filter FM, and syncable VCOs.
Further expanding its sonic palette, SH-MAX incorporates the additive-style oscillator from the SH-3A and draws inspiration from the SH-2000’s expressive capabilities and the Model 104 sequencer.
The synthesizer boasts distinctive filter personality, capable of transitioning from warm analog tones to aggressive sounds, and excels at producing raw, powerful timbres that cut through a mix.
SH-MAX offers flexible signal routing comparable to modular synthesizers, with independent routing of five sound sources to its Voltage Controlled Filter (VCF), Bandpass Filter (BPF), or Voltage Controlled Amplifier (VCA), each with its own effects chain.
It includes over 300 professionally designed presets curated by veteran sound designers, organized into 14 categories, and features a four-channel step sequencer with advanced pattern capabilities.
With support for monophonic, duophonic, unison, and 16-voice polyphonic modes, along with expressive touch effects and optional analog drift controls, SH-MAX provides a versatile and modern synthesis powerhouse.
