Four legendary processors. One unified workflow. The VWB-1X combines Black Rooster Audio’s acclaimed VHL-3C filters, VEQ-5 mid-range equalizer, VEQ-1P program EQ, and VTC-2 tube compressor into a single, powerful channel strip.
Inspired by legendary units such as the Tube-Tech Classic Channel, the VWB-1X brings together the warmth and smooth compression of vintage tubes with the precision and musicality of passive equalization. The result is a signal path that captures the rich harmonic character of classic analog gear while offering the consistency and flexibility expected from modern digital production.
Instead of managing multiple plug-ins in a chain, engineers can shape tone, control dynamics, and refine frequency balance within a unified environment. This approach not only accelerates workflow but also encourages a more musical and intuitive mixing experience.
Featuring Black Rooster Audio’s original VTC-2 Tube Compressor alongside vintage-inspired filters and equalizers, the VWB-1X is more than just an integration of classic modules. It is enhanced with modern capabilities such as mid/side processing, flexible routing options between modules, and streamlined global metering for accurate gain staging.
Designed for modern production demands, the VWB-1X extends the classic channel strip concept into a powerful tool for both mixing and mastering. Its four integrated modules operate seamlessly, allowing fast and intuitive processing that ranges from subtle corrective adjustments to character-driven tonal shaping.
The modules include:
- VHL-3C – Precisely control unwanted frequencies with carefully modeled high-pass (50 Hz – 2 kHz) and low-pass (1.5 kHz – 15 kHz) filters. Clean up your signal before it hits the EQ and compressor stages.
- VEQ-5 – Three bands of musical mid-range control — peak boost (200 Hz – 1 kHz), dip cut (200 Hz – 7 kHz), and presence peak (1.5 kHz – 5 kHz). Shape the body and character of any source with surgical precision.
- VEQ-1P – Boost low frequencies with a resonant shelf (20 – 100 Hz), add air and snap with variable-bandwidth high boost, and smooth out harshness with high attenuation at 5k, 10k, or 20 kHz.
- VTC-2 – The heart of the VWB-1X. Warm harmonic character with selectable ratio (1:2 to 1:20), fast/slow attack and release, dedicated mix knob for parallel compression, and pre/post EQ routing switch.
Place the compressor before or after the equalization stages. Compress before EQ to stabilize dynamics, or after EQ to let frequency adjustments influence the compressor’s response — just like a professional analog channel strip.
Go beyond standard stereo. The VWB-1X’s Mid/Side mode allows independent processing of center and stereo width components, making it easy to refine spatial balance and stereo depth for mixing and mastering.
A large central VU meter displays input level, output level, or gain reduction. Maintain optimal signal levels throughout the processing chain with clear, accurate visual feedback at every stage.
