One thing Kobito noticed about great songwriters like Stevie Wonder or Herbie Hancock is that their chord progressions often move in ways that aren’t obvious from traditional music theory.
NeoChords is a small tool I built to explore that kind of harmony.
Instead of only thinking about chords as fixed blocks, NeoChords helps you look inside chords, reveal the hidden triads within them, and experiment with new bass notes to discover fresh harmonic colors.
This simple idea opens the door to unexpected chord movements that still sound musical and connected.
The framework behind NeoChords is actually a big part of my own songwriting process. It helps me avoid getting stuck in familiar patterns and often leads to surprising harmonic directions I wouldn’t have found otherwise.
