Tone Projects have released Uni-L, available at the intro price of $149.00, increasing to $199.00 after the promotion. The offer ends June 30th.
Uni-L is a modern mastering limiter built for loudness, clarity, and musicality. Co-developed with mastering engineer Bob Macc, Uni-L combines sophisticated adaptive algorithms with deep, precise control over every stage of the process.
Merging the tonal integrity of wideband limiting with multiband detection, Uni-L achieves clean, natural loudness even at high gain. Its program-dependent lookahead and release allow Uni-L to adapt to complex audio signals perfectly – all under your direction. The dual-stage limiting and integrated clipping can be precisely balanced, offering unique control over each stage’s contribution to overall gain reduction. Uni-L lets you go as loud as you need – but more importantly, it lets you keep the sonics pure and the music alive without ever losing creative control.
Uni-L is a wideband limiter driven by a unique multiband detection path, offering frequency-aware limiting without tonal shifts or destructive crossovers. This detection guides Uni-L’s adaptive lookahead and auto-release, continually adjusting timings to the spectral and dynamic content – and the direction you set. The result is transparent, musically responsive limiting that preserves tonal and transient clarity while achieving loudness with remarkably low distortion.
Uni-L combines a slow limiter for average dynamics, a fast limiter for peaks, and a tightly integrated clipper all working together. With extensive control over how and when each stage works – like focusing release on low frequencies or clipping just the highs – you can shape the balance between loudness, dynamics, and transients with exceptional precision. A flexible transient detector lets you give important transients special treatment – for example, by clipping just the snare for extra punch while handling the rest of the signal more gently.
Alongside essential features such as optional True Peak mode, LUFS metering, and flexible stereo linking, Uni-L introduces several novel features. Low-band stereo linking maintains a focused low end while allowing unlinked processing elsewhere. Detailed release shaping and transient-specific lookahead let you fine-tune timing across the spectrum. With precise, independent controls throughout, you can solve issues confidently without unintended side effects.
Not every task needs in-depth tuning. Uni-L includes an easy-to-use Quick Start system with carefully tuned presets and a single macro slider controlling the entire limiter for quick adjustments to each preset. As you adjust the macro slider, you can see the underlying parameters change, helping you understand what’s happening under the hood. This allows you to get great results in seconds – with full control always available when you need it.
