The Absurdly Quiet Piano PRO is a unique virtual instrument designed to capture the sound of a piano played at the edge of silence, offering a mellow, soft, and alluring tone unlike brighter pianos.
This ‘PRO’ version expands upon the original by incorporating pedal up and down resonance samples, two dynamic layers (super-soft and almost-silent-soft), multiple round robins, release triggers, damper samples, and two distinct microphone positions.
The recording process involved meticulously finding the precise point where each key produces a tone without a loud thud, a challenging endeavor that required extensive post-production to isolate harmonics from surrounding noise.
The resulting instrument provides an intimate piano experience with the warmth of a felt piano and the subtle fizz of hammer strikes, enhanced by pedal resonance and microphone choices that allow for hearing the instrument’s inner workings.
