Victorien Genna Updates Hexatone – For IPadOS

Victorien Genna has released Hexatone, available at the intro price of $4.99, increasing to $8.00 after the promotion. The offer ends July 1st.

What’s new in version 1.2:

  • Built-in instrument voices – Two generative, in-tune voices out of the box: Hexatone Bell (a struck, bell-like tone) and Hexatone Glass (a sustaining, glassy tone that holds for as long as you want). No import or external synth needed.
  • Hold mode – A Hold button lets you build a chord and let go: it keeps sounding, hands-free. Tap a held key to drop it; turn Hold off to release everything.
  • Voices control – A slider sets how many notes the built-in instrument plays at once, and how many Hold can sustain.
  • Instrument naming and rename – Imported instruments take the name of the file or folder you imported, and you can rename any of them. Older imports update to their real name automatically.
  • Import a .zip – The multisample importer now accepts a folder or a .zip, including the ready-to-import .zip from the free SFZ Builder web tool.
  • Scale manager – A new screen to see and delete the Scala (.scl) scales you have imported.
  • Fixes and polish –  including cleaner high notes on the built-in sustaining voice and more reliable instrument import

Hexatone is an AuV3, customizable microtonal keyboard and sampler. Load up your own .scl files, divide the octave in EDO mode, play any MPE- enabled synth or your samples.

Hexatone is an isomorphic hexagonal keyboard and microtonal instrument for iPad. Every interval keeps the same shape anywhere on the grid, so scales and chords are easy to learn and transpose – in any tuning. And with the built-in sampler, it makes its own sound, in tune, with no extra apps required.

Play any tuning

  • Any equal temperament (N-EDO): 12, 19, 22, 24,31,53 and bevlyond
  • Import your own scales as Scala (.scl) files – keys show their ratios
  • Adjustable octave, concert pitch (A4), and key density

Built-in sampler — sound of its own

  • Load a single audio file and play it across the whole board, perfectly in tune
  • Or import full multisample instruments (SFZ) –pianos, kalimbas, pads, anything
. Manage your instrument library and reclaim space, right in the app
  • No external synth needed – though you can still send MIDI at the same time

Somorphic layouts

  • Bosanquet, Wicki-Hayden, Harmonic Table, Fourths Accordion – or a Custom layout

Beautiful readable keys

  • Glassy, glowing keys that light up as you play
  • Four colour palettes Pastel, Inferno,
Turquoise, Campfire) – hue shows pitch class brightness shows octave, so vou can read the keyboard at a glance

Works everywhere

  • Standalone, or as an AUv3 plugin in AUM, Logic Pro GarageBand, Cubasis, Loopy Pro, Drambo
  • MPE output: each note gets its own pitch bend, sa MPE-capable tune too
    synths play in
  • Velocity curve and pitch-bend range controls
