Sonic Zest Release Chord Sketchpad – A FREE Download

Sonic Zest have released Chord Sketchpad, available as a FREE download.

Chord Sketchpad was designed to help you overcome writer’s block and build chord progressions in seconds, right from your browser.

The workflow is simple: you pick your root note and chord type, drag it onto a 4-bar piano roll grid, and preview it on the fly. The app even analyses your progression and recommends chords for you. Once you’re happy with the progression, just click Export MIDI and drag it straight into your DAW of choice.

Key Features:

  • Smart “Suggested Next” Chords: Get suggested next chords, based on your current progression.
  • Advanced Chord Flavors: Easily map out standard Majors and Minors, or spice things up with Dominant 7ths, Diminished, Augmented, and beautiful extensions like Major/Minor 9ths.
  • Visual Piano Roll & Audio Playback: See exactly how the notes stack up across octaves and hit Play Loop to hear it instantly.
  • BPM Control & Piano Preview: Set your target tempo and hear how chords sound before you commit them to the timeline.
  • 100% Free: No paywalls, just a clean tool to help get ideas down fast.
