Rhodes Music Release Rhodes Clav Pro Plugin

Rhodes Music have released Rhodes Clav Pro, available at the intro price of £59.95, increasing to £89.95 after the promotion.

Few instruments defined the sonic landscape of the 1970s like the electro-acoustic Clavinet. From the rhythmic bite driving Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” and Herbie Hancock’s “Chameleon” to the unmistakable grooves of Bob Marley and Fleetwood Mac, the Clavinet brought the attack, grit, and percussive dynamic of an electric guitar straight to the keyboardist’s fingertips.

Now, Rhodes Music has expanded its virtual instrument line with the Rhodes Clav Pro—a high-fidelity plugin recreation of a rare 1977 Clav D6 “transition” model, enhanced with a modern FX suite and production-ready workflow tools.

Rhodes’ sound design team meticulously sampled an original 1977 D6 transition model to capture every detail of its mechanical response, pickup interaction, and acoustic resonance. The result is an instrument that translates the tactile immediacy of the physical unit into a virtual format, giving producers and performers the tight rhythmic stabs and gritty funk grooves that made the original legendary.

Beyond pure sampling, Clav Pro includes 1:1 modeling of the original pickup configurations, mute slider controls, and vintage EQ switches—allowing you to dial in exact tonal profiles ranging from bright and piercing lead cuts to warm, hollow rhythm chugs.

While classic Clavinet setups often required external stompboxes and amp rigs, Rhodes Clav Pro integrates a dedicated effect processing suite directly inside the plugin UI:

  • Envelope & Wah: Essential for classic funk filter sweeps and reactive wah responses.
  • Custom Drive & Compression: Add tape-style warmth, tube saturation, or hard clipping to punch through heavy mix dense layers.
  • Modulation & Delay: Built-in chorus, phaser, delay, and reverb modules designed specifically around the harmonic profile of string-plucked keyboards.

Features include:

  • Authentic 1977 Sampling: Meticulously sampled from a rare 1977 D6 ‘transition’ model electro-acoustic string keyboard.
  • 1:1 Hardware Emulation: Full recreation of original pickup selectors, mechanical mute slider, and vintage EQ tone switches.
  • Integrated Effects Suite: Onboard Drive, Compression, Envelope/Wah, Chorus, Phaser, Delay, and Reverb tailored for clavinet tones.
  • Expressive Dynamics: Detailed velocity mapping and release sample controls that capture authentic key-off mechanical clacks and string dampening.
  • Mix-Ready Presets: Includes a library of factory presets ranging from accurate vintage recreations to modern processed synth-clav textures.

Rhodes Clav Pro is available to PC and Mac users (VST2, VST3, AU and AAX).
