AudioThing Release Latin Percussion – For IOS

AudioThing have released Latin Percussion for iOS, (previously desktop only), available for $4.99. The desktop version is currently on offer, now only €19.99, (usually €39.00).

Whether you’re crafting breezy tropical house tracks, disco grooves, vintage synthwave, or organic lo-fi beats, analog drum machines bring a specific warmth and character that modern sample libraries often lack. AudioThing’s Latin Percussion plugin captures that exact vibe by meticulously emulating the rare Sound Master Latin Percussion (LP-88) analog drum machine from the 1980s.

Instead of hunting through auction sites for rare vintage hardware, AudioThing brings this quirky piece of music history straight into your DAW with modern control and enhanced creative flexibility.

The original hardware unit was known for its distinct, punchy analog synthesis of classic percussion instruments. AudioThing’s plugin recreation faithfully captures the vibe of six foundational sounds:

  • Bass Drum
  • Low Conga
  • High Conga
  • Bongo
  • Claves
  • Maracas

Each sound engine offers dedicated controls for Pitch, Pan, and Volume. Pitching down the congas gives you heavy, subby tones, while tightening up the claves or maracas can instantly slice through dense mixes.

To go beyond the limitations of the original 1980s hardware, AudioThing equipped Latin Percussion with built-in Overdrive and Reverb effects. Adding a touch of drive gives the percussion a saturated, aggressive bite, while the built-in reverb easily glues the pattern into a cohesive acoustic space.

Building patterns is straightforward thanks to the integrated 32-step sequencer. You can program rhythms directly within the plugin interface or trigger percussion sounds via MIDI.

One of the standout workflow features is MIDI Drag-and-Drop: once you assemble a rhythmic pattern you like inside the plugin, you can drag the MIDI sequence directly onto your DAW’s timeline for further editing. Additionally, the built-in preset randomizer makes generating fresh rhythmic ideas fast and effortless when inspiration stalls.

Features include:

  • Authentic Emulation: Sample-based plugin recreation of the rare Sound Master Latin Percussion (LP-88) analog drum machine from the 1980s.
  • 6 Classic Analog Percussion Sounds: Bass, Low Conga, High Conga, Bongo, Claves, and Maracas.
  • Independent Sound Shaping: Dedicated Pitch, Pan, and Volume controls for every individual percussion element.
  • Built-in FX Processing: Integrated Overdrive and Reverb modules for added warmth, saturation, and spatial depth.
  • Integrated Step Sequencer: Flexible internal sequencer with pattern creation and MIDI Drag-and-Drop support for rapid DAW workflow.
  • Preset System & Randomizer: Includes 20 factory presets and 9 factory patterns, plus a preset randomizer for dynamic sound generation.
  • User-Friendly Licensing: Lightweight copy protection supporting up to 3 computers per license with no iLok dongle or persistent internet connection required
