Pruina: A Spectral Freeze is a dedicated spectral processing AUv3 audio plugin and standalone app developed by Konstantin Torsten Schutz for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Pruina turns live audio, chords, vocals, or full mixes into evolving, breathing soundscapes that never decay.
Traditional delay and reverb tails eventually fade out or become cluttered. Pruina works differently under the hood: the moment you hit Freeze, it performs a real-time spectral analysis of your incoming audio, takes a high-resolution spectral snapshot, and resynthesizes it using slowly drifting phase algorithms.
Instead of a static loop or an abrupt audio hold, the frozen sound continues to breathe, shift, and oscillate endlessly—functioning like an organic synthesizer pad you never have to hold down.
Pruina goes beyond simple frozen audio holds by offering three distinct operating modes powered by its spectral engine:
- Freeze Mode: Tap once to instantly lock onto the spectral fingerprint of your audio and hold it indefinitely.
- Smear Mode: Continuously blurs incoming audio frequencies into a lush, smooth, washing soundscape.
