The legendary Klon Centaur defined transparent overdrive, but the music world hardly needs another straightforward digital clone. Developer Turn2on took that iconic 1990s germanium-diode circuit, dismantled its inner workings, and used it as the launching pad for something far more versatile. The result is the KLEON Modded Overdrive Rack Extension for Reason—a tool that respects its heritage while carving out a distinct personality of its own.
Rather than giving you a single tone and a gain knob, KLEON offers three main voicings modeled after phases of light: Zenith, Dusk, and Dawn. Zenith serves as the foundational voicing, delivering warm, transparent, and articulate drive that feels like pushing a tube amp naturally rather than bolting an effect on top. For players who need extra bite, engaging the hidden Vault switch inside Zenith mode activates a boutique-inspired second clipping stage, injecting extra gain, midrange push, and dynamic clamping on your hardest hits.
When you need a completely different flavor, shifting the mode switch redefines the pedal’s character entirely. Dusk leans into a darker, moodier territory with an early breakup, boxy aggression, and a strong midrange growl designed to be felt up front. Conversely, Dawn strips back the low end and shifts focus to the upper mids, offering a tight, bright response engineered to slice through dense mixes without muddying the low frequencies.
To keep everything balanced, Turn2on tuned KLEON’s control set by ear. The single Gain (Empire) dial seamlessly blends drive, circuit character, and underlying clean signal, while the Low Cut (LC) filter lets you tighten loose bass before it ever hits the saturation stage. Rounded out with studio essentials like a fixed 0 dBFS limiter, low-frequency mono summing, and a smooth, click-free bypass, KLEON easily transitions beyond guitar duties—adding analogue warmth to bass, shaving digital harshness off synths, or gluing full drum buses together.
