sonicLAB have released Creation v2, available for €112.95.
What’s new in version 2:
- Dual CPU & GPU Compute Engine: Drives multi-core CPU threads alongside GPU compute shaders for unprecedented real-time dynamic motion rendering and sound calculation.
- Expanded Engine Scale: Renders up to 999 simultaneous sounding objects in real-time (on modern processors like Apple Silicon M4) and addresses up to 9,999 objects in non-realtime scene captures.
- Dynamic Voice Allocation: Smart voice management that automatically tracks and prioritizes the most audible objects within a swarm, keeping dense scenes musically intact.
- Anti-Aliased Wavetable Architecture: Features an 11-level band-limited mip pyramid built via harmonic analysis during loading, preserving crystal-clear high frequencies across the entire pitch range.
- Cubic (Catmull-Rom) Interpolation: Applied across both the wavetable oscillator and granular engine to deliver enhanced clarity and harmonic richness, particularly noticeable on low notes with bright tables.
- 3rd-Order Ambisonic Export: Multi-channel 3D spatial audio support supporting 16-channel AmbiX format, alongside standard 32-bit float / 48kHz stereo WAV exports.
- Refined DSP & Distance Model: Independent controls for object distance and stereo width for more convincing spatial depth, alongside an updated resonant filter featuring automatic loudness compensation.
- Sample-Locked Disk Recording: Captures high-resolution audio and video sample-locked in non-realtime, ensuring flawless detail regardless of frame rendering length.
Creation breaks away from traditional synthesis paradigms by treating sound design as a 3D gravitational simulation. Instead of relying solely on familiar LFOs and envelopes, the software asks a fundamental question: How does a Big Bang sound? By merging physics, spatial geometry, and complex DSP, Creation puts you in the architect’s seat, allowing you to manipulate a virtual universe where physical laws dictate the evolution of sound.
At its core, Creation models the gravitational interplay between up to 999 orbiting objects and 5 massive attraction points. Each object acts as an individual sound source driven by a rich synthesis engine. As these objects interact under simulated physical forces, their spatial movements and collisions generate a constantly changing, macro-formal sonic texture.
What makes this engine truly distinct is your ability to bend physics. You aren’t restricted to real-world gravity—you can alter physical constants, adjust mass relationships, and even introduce negative (repulsive) forces. In Creation, space, time, and matter directly generate the sound, making audio an inseparable result of physical motion.
Features include:
- Physical Gravitational Engine: 3D spatial simulation calculating gravitational interactions between up to 999 objects and 5 masses.
- Malleable Physics: Custom force equations with adjustable gravitational constants and positive/negative force controls.
- Space Objects as Oscillators: Every gravitational entity features flexible synthesis and modulation capabilities.
- Scene Transitions & Animation: Capture distinct scene states and morph seamlessly between massive data points in real time.
- CreationRemote Plugin: Full DAW integration via VST3 and Audio Units (AU) formats for drawing automation or assigning MIDI control.
- OSC Support: Open Sound Control compatibility for external hardware and interactive visual software integration.
- High-Definition Audio Export: Render 32-bit float / 48 kHz stereo files or 16-channel 3rd-order Ambisonics (AmbiX).
- 30 Art-Grade Presets: Includes factory presets curated by Laurent Mialon demonstrating complex audio-visual soundscapes.
