Kobito has released Trajectory, available at fhe intro price of $8.00, increasing to $29.00 after the promotion.
Trajectory is a new music creation tool that utilizes motion instead of a traditional timeline, allowing users to place dots and lines on a moving trajectory to generate rhythm, pitch, dynamics, and sound.
The movement of a tracer on the canvas is controlled by two LFOs, which define its X and Y positions, enabling the creation of various paths from simple circles to complex shapes by combining different waveforms and phase relationships.
Users interact with Trajectory by placing dots and lines, where dots represent ‘Onsets’ and influence zones around them create ‘Anticipation’ as the tracer approaches, generating sound based on proximity and timing.
The tool features a built-in synthesizer and sampler for each endpoint, offering continuous sound generation akin to a theremin or event-based playback with reverse capabilities for unique sonic gestures.
Trajectory allows for detailed sound shaping through adjustable parameters like pitch, influence zones, and the use of a mini-keyboard for building chord voicings, with options to freeze pitches for precise placement.
Scenes in Trajectory can be saved and sequenced, allowing for variations in motion, pitch, and sound design, and can be exported or imported as .xml files.
Beyond its internal sound engine, Trajectory can send MIDI notes, CC11 Expression, and Pitch Bend to external instruments, enabling its motion-based control to drive other software synthesizers and samplers.
Trajectory is available to PC and Mac users (VST3 and AU).
