What’s new in version 1.4:
- ARPEGGIATOR
- Hold a chord, lift your hands, and Hexatone plays it one note at a time. Five patterns (up down, up-down, as played, random), rates from 1/4 to 1/32 including triplets, gate ength, and up to 4 octaves. It transposes by your tuning’s own octave, so patterns stay or tune in any scale. Add or remove notes while it runs and the pattern picks them up without stopping. As a plugin it follows the host tempo and lands on the bar
- HEXATONE MIDI, A SECOND PLUGIN
- Some hosts only take MIDI from plugins loaded in their MIDI slots. Hexatone MIDI is the same keyboard as a pure AUv3 MIDI plugin: load it in a MIDI slot (Drambo, AUM, Logic’s MIDI FX), route it to an MPE-capable synth, and record. It makes no sound of its own.

- FIXES
- Synths set to automatic MPE detection
- (Anima and others) now lock onto Hexatone reliably. Hexatone used to announce its MPE configuration once at launch, so a synth opened or routed afterwards missed it and fell back to single- channel mode. where chords retune eack other. Hexatone now re-announces it whenever you start playing after a pause
- Apple Pencil velocity now works. It had never worked on iPad (the code checked for a capability only old iPhones had). Thank you to the player who reported it.
- New installs now start with the Hexatone Bell voice, as the manual always said, and the sine preview tone is off by default. “None (MIDI only)” is now actually silent. Your saved settings are not changed; the sine is still available under Settings, Instrument
Hexatone is an AuV3, customizable microtonal keyboard and sampler. Load up your own .scl files, divide the octave in EDO mode, play any MPE- enabled synth or your samples.
Hexatone is an isomorphic hexagonal keyboard and microtonal instrument for iPad. Every interval keeps the same shape anywhere on the grid, so scales and chords are easy to learn and transpose – in any tuning.
