WaveMachine Labs Inc. have released ReStem 2 for iOS users, previously desktop only,, available for:
- iOS version – $29.99
- Desktop (Core version) – $99.00
- Desktop (Pro version) – $199.00
What’s new in version 2:
- Realtime Live Mode: Version 1 was strictly offline processing. ReStem 2 Pro adds a new low-latency live mode. Drop it directly onto a DAW insert, hit play, and listen to the separated stems rebalanced in real time.
- Three Rendering Speeds: Choose between Good (Realtime) for speed, Better (Offline) for fast rendering (now twice as fast as version 1), and Best (Offline) for messy tracks with extreme bleed.
- Built-in Channel Strips: Separation is only half the battle. ReStem 2 gives every stem its own dedicated channel strip with a look-ahead noise gate, dynamic processing, and transient shapers to clean up hits.
- Integrated Drumagog Engine: You no longer need to route stems into separate replacement plugins. ReStem 2 Pro builds Drumagog right into the kick and snare modules, letting you swap out hits with custom samples on the fly.
- TrigNet MIDI Output: Send precision MIDI data from every stem to trigger external virtual instruments like Superior Drummer or Steven Slate Drums—even on complex ghost notes and fast blast beats.
- 100% Local Processing: Nothing goes to a cloud server. The algorithm leverages host hardware (GPU-accelerated), guaranteeing privacy, sample-accurate repeatability, and offline functionality
Every audio engineer and producer knows the pain of dealing with a muddy stereo drum track or live room recording where the snare heavily bleeds into every cymbal hit. While most AI stem separators split songs into general buckets like vocals, bass, drums, and other instruments, ReStem 2 focuses strictly on drums. Instead of treating the drum kit as a single element, ReStem 2 isolates a drum recording into 7 individual stems: Kick, Snare, Hi-Hat, Toms, Ride, Crash, and a dedicated “Other” stem for remaining audio.
What sets ReStem 2 apart is its granular control and built-in processing. Placing every instrument on an isolated fader allows you to pull down a harsh ride cymbal or compress a snare without ruining the rest of the kit’s dynamics. The software offers three separation modes, ranging from a real-time insert mode with minimal latency for live DAW playback to high-precision offline rendering powered by deep learning models.
Beyond separation, ReStem 2 functions as a complete drum processing suite. Each stem features an integrated channel strip with a look-ahead noise gate, transient shaper, and the industry-standard Drumagog sample replacement engine. It also features TrigNet MIDI output to convert live performances into clean MIDI data, capturing complex Ghost notes and rapid blast beats with high accuracy.
Processing runs 100% locally on your machine using Apple Silicon Metal or Windows GPUs, eliminating the need for cloud subscriptions or long upload queues. Whether you are a mix engineer cleaning up live bleed, a beatmaker chopping stereo breaks, or a remixer adjusting classic masters, ReStem 2 brings precise multitrack flexibility to glued-together drum tracks
