Most synthesizers give you a traditional virtual keyboard, an array of standard oscillators, and familiar envelope controls. TurboBeast completely breaks away from that convention. TurboBeast is a procedural engine synthesizer designed around a virtual cockpit rather than a traditional musical interface.
Instead of using audio samples, TurboBeast models internal combustion pulse trains in real time. It generates everything from raw two-stroke high-pitched screams to deep V8 exhaust thunders purely through dynamic synthesis.
Rather than clicking a static key on a MIDI keyboard to trigger a pre-recorded sample, you interact directly with a dynamic set of driving controls that dictate the sound. The throttle acts as your primary voice driver, letting you feather the pedal using an intuitive touch interface or map it to a MIDI pitch wheel for expressive revving. Stomping on the brake engages realistic pad friction and low-end growls that react dynamically to your current velocity before tapering off into a complete stop. Beyond simple acceleration, adjusting steering and drift controls introduces lateral scrub and realistic tire screeching based on loss-of-grip mechanics. To top it off, shifting gears—using either an H-pattern shifter for cars or a sequential setup for motorbikes—alters pitch steps dynamically, giving you total performance control over the virtual engine.
TurboBeast grants you granular control over both vehicle mechanics and the surrounding environment to sculpt your exact sonic space. You can select from six distinct machines and engines ranging from lightweight motorbikes to heavy muscle cars, then tailor their tone with exhaust configurations like Stock, Sport Cannon, Straight Pipe, or Race Chamber pipes. Audio realism goes even deeper through tire and surface interactions, where five road surfaces pair with six tire types to calculate authentic break-away traction limits—making wet asphalt lose friction far earlier than dry track. Finally, placement controls let you park or drive your vehicle inside four detailed acoustic stages, allowing you to add slapback reflections from a highway overpass, tight reverberations from a street corridor, open-air acoustics from a rural road, or massive space from a reverberant warehouse.
While designed around a driving interface, TurboBeast remains a fully playable musical instrument at its core. Through incoming MIDI pitch tracking, external notes lock the engine’s fundamental firing frequency directly to specific musical pitches, allowing you to play melodic basslines, aggressive leads, or sound design risers using raw exhaust notes. A dedicated firing-locked sub-bass generator adds heavy, cohesive low-end weight beneath the engine pulses to keep your mix full and grounded. Once you’ve crafted the perfect take, the standalone app allows you to instantly record and export your dynamic performances directly into high-quality WAV, AIFF, or FLAC audio formats for seamless drag-and-drop workflow in your DAW.
