AIR Music Technology have released Stereophonic EQP and Stereophonic Enhancer, each available at the intro price of $39.00, increasing to $99.00 each after the promotion. There’s also a bundle option.
Stereophonic EQP
AIR Music Technology’s Stereophonic EQP pairs Pultec-style analog tone-shaping with Mid/Side processing, dedicated saturation, and cross-platform flexibility across standalone hardware and desktop DAWs.
The original Pultec EQP-1A is famous for its broad, musical curves and its ability to boost and attenuate frequencies simultaneously to tighten low end. However, traditional passive EQP units lack precise mid-range control and aren’t built for mid/side workflow setups.
Stereophonic EQP combines vintage signal-path modeling with modern control features:
- Hybrid Architecture: Blends classic low- and high-end frequency bands with additional low-mid and high-mid controls derived from MEQ-5 style equalizers.
- Mid/Side Processing: Switch from standard Stereo to Mid/Side mode to sculpt low-end weight in the center while widening high-end detail on the edges.
- Tube Warmth Saturation: A dedicated saturation parameter introduces subtle harmonic drive, presence, and analog density without needing a separate drive plugin.
- Adjustable High-Pass Filter: Helps clean up sub-bass mud before driving the low-end boost/attenuation stages.
Stereophonic Enhancer
Stereophonic Enhancer brings dynamic psychoacoustic widening, multi-band tone control, and warm harmonic excitation to individual tracks, buses, and master mixes.
Stereo widening tools often rely on simple phase-inversion tricks, which can cause severe phase cancellation, mono incompatibility, or a hollowed-out center. Stereophonic Enhancer uses frequency-dependent psychoacoustic processing to push sound out past the speaker boundaries while keeping the core signal focused and mono-safe.
- Frequency-Conscious Widening: Focus stereo enhancement specifically on mid and high frequencies while keeping sub-bass frequencies focused in the center.
- Harmonic Excitation: Introduces dynamic harmonic content to brighten dark sounds, add presence to vocals, and make dull acoustic instruments sound lively.
- Transient Preservation: Enhances depth and width without softening the initial attack of drums or percussion.
- Built-in Correlation Metering: Displays visual feedback on phase relationships in real time to prevent phase issues.
Stereophonic EQP and Stereophonic Enhancer are available to PC and Mac users (VST2, VST3, AU and AAX).
