FRCTL Audio have released GRNi, available at the intro price of $34.99, increasing to $44.99 after the promotion.
GRNi turns any sample into a playable granular instrument. Drop a file on the waveform, draw a selection, and play it over MIDI. Each note spawns its own stream of grains, so chords get thicker instead of thinner.
The Whole Instrument on One Screen.
- Full-width waveform with layer tabs, selection editing and Ableton-style zoom
- Grain, pitch, random, voice, filter and feedback cards in one row, keyboard underneath
- Modulation (3 LFOs, 3 envelopes, 4 macros) and the FX rack one click away
- Resizable from 75% to 150%
Every Note Grows Its Own Grains.
- One grain stream per sounding note: density is per voice, so chords bloom instead of thinning
- Each note reads its own window into the selection, spread along the sample
- The glow on the waveform shows exactly where every note is reading
Six Cards. No Menus.
- GRAIN: SIZE, DENSITY (tempo-syncable), DRIFT and STEREO, plus a grain shape editor and per-grain CUT / RES / DRIVE
- PITCH with a FREE / CHROM / SCALE pill and ten scales, HARMONY with scatter and direction
- RANDOM: pitch, size, level, shape, reverse and cut per grain, with a Q toggle that keeps pitch jitter in key
- VOICE ADSR with velocity, resonant HP/LP FILTER with a live spectrum, FEEDBACK with WARM / TUBE / CRUNCH, and a ROOT note row
Play It Like an Instrument.
- MONO, LEGATO or POLY up to 16 voices, Serum-style
- PORTA with curve, ALWAYS and SCALED modes
- A C2 to C7 keyboard on the GUI that goes through the same voice engine as your controller
- MPE: per-note bend, pressure and slide on any MPE controller
Two Samples, One Cloud.
- Load a second sample into layer B; each layer keeps its own selection, LVL, PAN and TUNE
- BLEND decides for every new grain which layer it reads from, so the mix breathes instead of crossfading
- Drop from your file browser or straight from Splice, up to 30 seconds per layer
Ten Effects, In Any Order.
- Bitcrusher, Chorus, Reverb, Delay, Phaser, Flanger, Distortion, Tremolo, Widener, Filter
- Six knobs and a MIX per effect, per-slot bypass, order saved with the preset
- Sits after the grain engine, so every effect hears the whole cloud
GRNi is available to PC, Mac and Linux users (VST3, AU, CLAP and standalone).
