The Attic 3 is a collection of quirky electronic oddities. Because these days you can buy a knock-off of every classic synth there is, instead we dig around the margins of music production history for the rare or the forgotten.
Analogue pianos, funky organs, glassy digital boxes, vocal synths, and string machines. We sample every single key, then model the filters and envelopes. This gives a unique imprint of the vintage character in a way that code-based software synths can’t.
Modern producers look for inspiration away from the usual clichés. We have captured the sound and idiosyncrasies of this hardware, and created a huge library of 600+ preset sounds to showcase all their character.
There is an old rule of thumb when sampling synths: record two keys per octave, and that will be enough.
We don’t buy into this; with a 40 year-old synth, each key comes with its own response, its own tuning discrepancy, its own quirks.
The more you sample, the more detail you capture. The more notes you record, the more character you will get.
The Attic 3 gives you every single key.
