Tweakbench LLC have updated Noemi, available as a FREE download with an in-app purchase that unlocks the full app.
What’s new in version 1.0.8:
- New: the LiveCode editor has a playhead. A strip above the text lays the cycle out left to right with the beat grid, a mark for every note the pattern played, and the playhead moving across them
- New: audio effects that take MIDI – harmonisers, vocoders, MIDI-keyed filters – now have a MIDI in port, so the effect plays along with the audio it is processing
- Tapping a Noemi project in the Files app now opens the project, not just the app
- When a purchase could not be restored, Noemi always said no previous purchase was found. It now explains what actually went wrong
- Playing more than 15 notes at once through a microtuned instrument no longer drops the new ones. The oldest held note gives up its channel, so the note you just played always sounds
- A chain of two or more effects no longer qoes silent
- Scala tuning files padded with blank lines, spaces or tabs now load, and one kind of blank line no longer loads a wrong tuning silently
- Changing a plug-in’s outputs from inside its own window no longer scrambles its ports or leaves cables hanging
Noemi is a new DAW software. Rather than forcing your ideas into rigid, linear track lanes, Noemi reimagines music creation as a dynamic, visual canvas.
Instead of arranging patterns sequentially along a timeline, Noemi relies on a node-based modular workflow. You build compositions by connecting visual building blocks—routing MIDI, audio signals, clock triggers, and modulation paths using interactive virtual cables.
Features include:
- Modular Canvas Workspace: Wire together patterns, generators, instruments, transformers, and effects processors into a custom graph. If you can draw a signal flow, you can play it.
- 7 Composition & Sound Sources: Generative engines including Pattern (with 4 polyrhythm playheads), probabilistic Generators with 30+ scales, an 8-lane Rhythm step sequencer, TidalCycles-inspired LiveCode notation, plus Waveform, Slicer, and Granular synthesis nodes.
- 5 Built-In Instruments: Ships ready to play with Chirusa (4-osc subtractive synth), SimSim (wavetable morphing synth), Cantia (formant voice engine), Leeroy (drum synthesizer), and Ostion (drum sampler).
- 12 Chainable MIDI Transformers: Process incoming notes in real-time with modules like Euclidean Rhythm generators, Markov Chains, Style Learners, Scale Quantizers, Fibonacci L-systems, Arpeggiators, and Probability Gates.
- Deep Modulation Routing: Modulate almost any parameter across 11 source types—including LFOs, Envelopes, Step Sequencers, Envelope Followers, Sidechains, Random/Noise generators, MIDI, and OSC.
- Non-Linear Performance & Arrangement: Trigger compositions via a 16-slot Scene system with seamless crossfading, a dedicated full-screen Performance View, or automate entire scenes to tween across set beat lengths.
- Expression & Microtuning Support: Full MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) integration for per-note pressure, slide, and pitch bend, alongside MTS-ESP microtuning support with SCL/KBM scale file loading.
- AUv3 & Plugin Integration: Load external mobile audio units, software synthesizers, and audio processors directly into the node grid alongside internal modules.
