What’s new in version 1.4.0:

  • System Audio Recording — Record system audio in the standalone app or directly inside your DAW.
  • Good Takes Improvement — Mark your best moments using MIDI notes, controllers, footswitches, or computer keyboard keys.
  • Takes Menu — Browse all takes, audio-only, MIDI-only, or Good Takes, and instantly jump to any recording.
  • Audio to MIDI — Convert melodic audio into MIDI using the open-source Basic Pitch model.
  • Improved Navigation — Zoom, scrub, and navigate recordings more precisely.
  • Audio & MIDI Information — View Peak, RMS, chord, key, and other recording information.
  • UI & Engine Improvements — Along with many other improvements throughout Watcher.

Watcher is an audio and MIDI capture plugin designed to ensure that inspiration is never lost. Whether you’re improvising, sound designing, jamming, or composing, Watcher continuously records in the background so you can focus on creating instead of worrying about pressing record.

The plugin captures both audio and MIDI, providing clear visual waveforms and MIDI note displays that make it easy to browse, review, and recover your performances. When you discover a great moment, simply highlight the desired section and drag-and-drop the audio or MIDI directly into your DAW.

Watcher automatically trims silence from the beginning and end of exported files, saving time and keeping your recordings clean and ready to use. Powerful marker tools allow you to tag important moments while recording, making it easy to organize and locate your best ideas later.

For maximum reliability, Watcher can continuously save recordings to a user-defined folder on disk, ensuring valuable performances are preserved even during long sessions. A configurable circular buffer lets you choose anywhere from 1 to 60 minutes of recording history, allowing you to instantly recover recent ideas that would otherwise be lost.

Map a footswitch, MIDI controller button, or any assignable control to create markers during recording, so standout performances and promising takes are always easy to find. Combined with a fully resizable interface, Watcher adapts seamlessly to any workflow and screen size.

Features include:

  • Continuous background recording of audio and MIDI
  • Visual waveform and MIDI display for easy navigation
  • Drag-and-drop audio and MIDI directly into your DAW
