Phantom Sun is a semi-modular synthesizer for iPad, designed for generative patches, experimental sound design and expressive performance. Build sounds from oscillators, slope generators Lopass Gates, sequencers, random voltages, logic and modulation – then connect everything through Phantom Sun’s dedicated Patch page.
Instead of covering the interface with virtual cables Phantom Sun uses a clear Source-to-Destination patching system. Each Destination can receive up to four Sources, each with its own bipolar modulation amount. Simple patches stay easy to understand, while complex modulation can grow without becoming visually cluttered.
Two five-step sequencers, fluctuating random voltages, Sample & Hold, Logic, Clock, Pulse and flexible Slope Generators make Phantom Sun especially suited to evolving and self-running patches Link the sequencers for longer patterns, combine predictable and random modulation, or let different parts of the instrument influence one another to create patches that continually change,
Phantom Sun’s Touch Plate Kevs are more than a conventional keyboard. They generate Pitch, Gate and Pressure CV, allowing your playing gestures to become part of the patch itself.
Use Pressure to open a Lopass Gate, change oscillator timbre. introduce modulation or control almost any patchable Destination.
Phantom Sun can be played as a conventional synthesizer, treated as a modular sound-design environment, or left to develop into a self-running generative system.
